CEBU, Philippines — Clearing and recovery operations are in full swing across Cebu as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region VII and the Coast Guard District Central Visayas (CGDCV) continue efforts to restore road access and assist communities affected by Typhoon Tino.

At Km 38 of the Cebu-Balamban Transcentral Highway, personnel from the DPWH Cebu 3rd District Engineering Office continue to work, removing debris, clearing obstructions, and reopening routes vital to reconnecting upland communities. As of November 9, 2025, Km 36 of the highway has been made one-lane passable to motorists.

Crews are now advancing toward Km 37 to complete debris removal and cleaning operations, ensuring the full restoration of traffic flow along the mountain route.

In Liloan, Cebu, the DPWH-7 and the Cebu 5th District Engineering Office are conducting round-the-clock clearing operations in Garden Bloom and Colorado Homes I, where roads remain blocked by mud, debris, and damaged vehicles.

Teams are also assisting residents in flood-hit areas, while additional personnel and heavy equipment are on standby at CTU Oval, Liloan, for deployment to Villa Lara and Colorado Homes II.

DPWH-7 has likewise extended support to nearby communities, including Cotcot, Liloan, where teams are helping clear roads and debris to restore accessibility and aid local recovery efforts.

DPWH-7 advised motorists and residents to remain cautious while traversing affected areas as clearing works continue.

Meanwhile, the Coast Guard District Central Visayas, led by Rear Admiral Agapito B. Bibat, continues its post-typhoon response and clearing operations in coordination with local government units.

In Talisay City, Coast Guard personnel are removing debris in Barangay Biasong to restore road access and ensure residents’ safety. Similar efforts are ongoing in Danao City, while other units are assisting in relief operations and search activities across northern Cebu.

In its situation report as of 8 a.m. on November 10, the CGDCV reported that they have assisted in the hauling and repacking of DSWD relief goods at the municipal buildings of Consolacion and Compostela, Cebu.

They have also continued the search and rescue (SAR) operations in Liloan and Balamban, Cebu with the support of a K9 team.

“The CGDCV and DPWH-7 remain steadfast in ensuring the safety of life and property and in assisting communities as they recover from the impacts of the recent typhoons,” the agencies said in a joint statement. — /FPL (FREEMAN)
